What are those brown lumps/strings floating in my Kombucha?

Those are strands of the SCOBY, the healthy culture. They are not visible at the time of bottling and form afterwards as an indication that the product still has living and active cultures. The longer the kombucha is bottled, the more culture strings form. But they are perfectly fine to drink!

I had the same Kombucha drink before but why does it taste different?

The kombucha is handcrafted in small batches, so there can be a slight difference in the taste of the different batches. Several factors such as weather, temperature, length of fermentation and the sweetness of the fruits can affect the taste.

Does Kombucha have an expiry date?

Kombucha does not really expire. However, we put a best before date on our Kombucha as they are not pasteurised and the fermentation process continues even after bottling. This might change the flavour a bit over time but it won’t go bad.

How much sugar is there in one bottle of Kombucha? Does it contain caffeine?

We don’t have the exact measurements because it depends on the duration of the fermentation. Usually, there is 6-7 g of sugar in 330ml of kombucha. It also contains caffeine as the base of kombucha is black or green tea. However, the caffeine level is less than half of a regular cup of tea.

Does Kombucha contain alcohol?

Yes, there are small traces of alcohol but they do not lead to intoxication and naturally occur through fermentation. It is similar to yoghurt, tempeh, kimchi, sauerkraut, etc. The amount of alcohol in kombucha is around 0.2%.

Is Kombucha suitable for everyone?

Yes, even children can be introduced to it already! You may start with a small amount of 50-100ml and increase it slowly over time to get used to it.

As a general guideline for pregnant women or people with a weak immune system or special dietary requirements, please consult your doctor for any concerns.

How much Kombucha can I drink a day? When should I drink it?

Each bottle of Kombucha contains 330ml or 500ml, which is good for daily consumption. Kombucha needs to be consumed daily over a period of time to help your body stay balanced. While it tastes really good and is easy to drink, we do encourage drinking Kombucha in moderation and do not recommend that you drink more than 500ml per day.

You may drink Kombucha first thing in the morning or throughout the day. It’s best to drink it after a meal if you want to aid digestion or if you have gastric issues.
